ECOLOGISTS in Action and the Balearic environmental group GOB yesterday mounted a protest at the site of the Port Adriano expansion project calling for the El Toro Marine Reserve to be expanded to include protection of a five hectare meadow of the endangered Mediterranean Posidonia oceanica species of seagrass in the area.

According to the environmentalists, the expansion work has already caused serious damage to the sea grass meadow and that unless steps are taken to protect the area, its future is in danger.
