Manzano has warned his players that their recent cup success over Malaga will count for little when the two sides clash again in the league tomorrow

Real Mallorca knocked Malaga out of the fourth round of the Copa del Rey with a 3-1 aggregate victory earlier this month.

But Mallorca coach Gregorio Manzano is reluctant to read too much into that cup triumph saying “They will be very different. It is not the same to play a league game as a cup game.”

“There are three points in play during the 90 minutes, without the possibility of rectifying things (in a second leg).”

Manzano is also expecting Malaga to be fired up for the match as they look to end a run of five games without a win.

“We are facing a team who have a genuine anxiety to win and we must neutralise this fact because otherwise every game for us will be like a final from now on,” added Manzano, who has seen his side slip to 15th in La Liga after going down 2-1 in Almeria last week.

“After the defeat in Almeria we are closer to the relegation places, and we must win against Malaga so we can look up instead of down, that’s why the three points this weekend are so important. Those points will help us relax a bit.”

The visitors have Weligton back after suspension but have lost Manolo Gaspar to injury, while Mallorca are again set to be missing first-choice goalkeeper Miguel Angel Moya who may be out for a further two weeks.
