Mallorca hoping to get their season back on track against league bottom club Recreativo
Mallorca have slumped to within two points of the relegation zone after winning just one of their last eight Liga fixtures and face Recreativo today at the Ono Estadi.
The Huelva side have managed just one win all season and are now on a four game losing run, finding themselves bottom of La Liga.
Mallorca won this corresponding fixture 7-1 last season, with all eight goals coming in the opening 50 minutes of a memorable game.
However, two of Mallorca’s three goal scorers in that game are no longer at the club: Dani Guiza and Borja Valero were both sold this summer.
Mallorca are also without injured goalkeeper Miguel Angel Moya and suspended defender Josemi for today’s game.
Recreativo coach Lucas Alcaraz will take charge of his 300th game, but all he is concerned about is trying to pick up what would only be Recre’s second win of the season.
“It’s an important game. They are also on a run of results which is not positive and they will also be looking at this encounter as an important one to try and end this run.”
Alcaraz is without injured trio Beto, Jose Ignacio Zahinos and Quique Alvarez, but fit-again Ersen Martin returns to the fold. (DM)
