Cause of accident unknown

A 49 year old man was killed on Wednesday afternoon after being hit by a car while riding his bicycle along the Bunyola Road 3km from Palma.

The incident was relayed to the emergency services but, upon arrival at the scene, paramedics were unable to save the man’s life.

The death is the first traffic-related death of 2009 on the Balearic Islands. Last year 57 people were killed, which was 21 less than the year before.
