Palma hotels still dearest

Despite price drop from last year Mallorca’s capital is still the priciest city

Spending the night in a hotel in Palma will set you back on average 107 euros, according to price comparison website Trivago, making it the most expensive city in Spain to stay in.

Nevertheless, even this represents a 12 percent drop in price compared with February 2009. Barcelona comes in second place, at 102 euros a night, and Madrid in third at 99 euros.

The cheapest city in which to stay is Leon, at 62 euros.

By comparison, Spain remains one of the cheaper places to stay in Europe and still has some way to go before catching up with Switzerland, where a room will set you back 163 euros on average.
