Festive bookings by companies down 30% on previous years

Restaurants have reported a large drop in bookings for Christmas dinners this year. And it´s not just Christmas dinner that is suffering a falloff – bookings for office lunches and dinners are also down, reports the Diario de Mallorca.

Some restaurants are offering a more austere, slimmed down version of the usual festive fare to entice cash strapped managers who still want to provide their employees with a treat.

And it´s not just business bookings that are down, restaurateurs have also noticed a 15-20 percent fall in customer bookings in recent months. If that were not bad enough, anecdotal evidence suggests that diners are ordering less in order to save money with reports of customers skipping dessert and only drinking one bottle of wine between four people.

Many restaurants have reduced the price of their daily menu to entice customers back to the tables. (WC)
